WHAT I BELIEVE

I believe you must bring your whole self to the table if you want to thrive in today’s crazy world; your personality, your sense of humor, and most importantly, your heart. All of these elements brought me to start Truth and Devotion.

Beliefs: About

FAITH AND BELIEF

Faith is a principle of action based on a set of Beliefs. To believe is to have a deeply held opinion. Some may claim to know, but that requires more empirical evidence than just feelings.

What I believe is influenced by my own observation and study and may not align with the beliefs of others.

In the following Essays, I will attempt to briefly describe what I believe and why.

SUMMARY OF ESSAYS ON BELIEFS

I believe the Book of Abraham is a creative expansion of the Biblical account of the Patriarch Abraham from the dynamic mind of Joseph Smith.  Please read my Essay Egyptian Scripture.

I believe the Book of Mormon is a 19th century fictional novel, written in a scriptural style, inspired by multiple sources and created with the purpose of teaching what Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdrey believed about Christianity and native American origins.

HISTORICAL JESUS

I believe that Jesus was a historical character and a radical thinker, challenging dogmatic religious traditions. I believe his stories were embellished into God myths of supernatural ability.

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is to me the connection to our sub-conscience self. Our physical and emotional responses to human experiences is a natural occurrence.  Please read my Essay Right or Wrong

GOD

I don't believe in an Andromorphic God, who was or looks like a man. I do think there is some kind of universal connection to the humanity through our collective conscience and cognitive ability.

TEMPLES

I believe Temples are a place for deep meditation and symbolic teaching. I don't believe the rites performed in Mormon temples have any efficacy after this life experience.

By sharing what I believe, I do not mean to disparage your faith and belief.  My beliefs may continue to change and evolve as I continue to study and ponder about truth and devotion.
